Well, so the announcement for the shop closing went out yesterday. The response is nothing short of amazing love. People from all over are sending responses of Sweetness and gratitude and good luck. It is so nice. I hope they understand that it has been they who have made it so successful in its reach, and that I appreciate each and every one of them who have walked in through that door. What the shop has done is given people fresh starts, courage, sense of self, belonging and validation.
I think that on the Vendor end, the shop has made it so that people have been able to live their lives in ways that they utilize their gifts and talents and it has given them validation in them. I hope that it has shown the crafters that their arts are worth so much to so many, and in that- knowing that they, themselves are worth so much to so many!
for the community, I hope that it has been for them that they now have a sense of belonging. So many people have walked through the door broken hearted and down, only to walk out with a smile and some sort of self-confidence in what they are doing that day if not this life. That has always been my goal. There have been many people looking for a 'home' that have come through the door- they have been searching for community. I hope they have all found what they were looking for, in the smallest trinket to take home, to the meet & greets. We all need that sense of validation that 'no, you're not crazy', and 'yea- this is real' when going into new territory in life.
People form all walks have come to Rollinsford to see the shop, it's products and people. It has been a beautiful 3 years. I may have been very stressed at times, and who wouldn't be? Being in business with no business training? Just a dream and tons of inspiration on Calling.
Luckily, I have had some of the best people in the WORLD working with me for the common good.
hah.. the saying goes-
"We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!"
So, here's to a little break, and then onto the next big adventure as a newly refreshed company and band of eclectic souls!
